Crowdsourcing innovative ideas to solve Air Force challenges
Open Call Challenges
The AFWERX Challenge is where individuals, startups, small businesses, large enterprises, academics and research labs submit solutions to specific challenges that the U.S. Air Force (USAF) launches. AFWERX Challenge is a growing military/business ecosystem. Most of the challenges are open, seeking to facilitate dialogue and collaboration. On open challenges, participants can usually see, comment, rate and community vote on submissions.
These solutions will then be reviewed by the USAF. Winning selections will be engaged for further discussions which is typically an event or private meeting. Final selections might be funded for demonstration, testing, and may even be eligible to be awarded a military contract. AFWREX Challenge does not ask for IP, trade secrets or financial information to be disclosed publicly. But participants have the option to attach files (in the desktop browser view) that can only be viewed by the USAF evaluation team.
USAF Ideation Platform
The USAF Ideation Platform allows for any Air Force organization to run their own challenge open to the entire Air Force. This allows for Air Force organizations to source new and innovative ideas from our own Airmen. The platform is an unclassified commercial solution that is authorized to process information up to DoD SRG IL4. The platform leverages crowd engagement solutions in order to ensure that campaigns have a large level of participation and allows for open and transparent voting, commenting and pairwise comparisons.
The platform can be accessed from any internet connection and has mobile friendly access. Please note: Registration on the platform is limited to those with an official DoD or USAF email address.
